What must be done?
Include work for legal and structural reform in the explicit research and outreach agendas of ADZU, XU and ADDU.
Align law schools of ADZU, XU and ADDU to this purpose.
Review laws relevant to social and economic reform in Mindanao: E.g. Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program with Extension and Reforms (RA 9700), Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act (RA 8371), Urban Development and Housing Act (RA 7279), Fisheries Code (RA 8550), Kasambahay Law (RA 10361), Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (RA 9262), Family Courts (RA 8369), Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation (RA 8425).
Support pending laws that support the action points: Alternative Minerals Management Bill (SB 43 and HB 984), etc.
Institutionalize school’s dealings with NGOs and other agencies. Creating protocols for external collaborations.
Share collaborative researches or studies on one area e.g. Ligawasan Marsh Study on the environment, peoples, economics, etc. Partner as well with Urios University and willing SUCs (like MSU-IIT).
Humanities and Media departments of schools must involve themselves in communicating peace, interreligious and intercultural dialogues.
Appoint offices or councils that will watch over the bills being filed in congress and initiate calls for appropriate and necessary lobbies.
Outreach and Advocacy components of the Mindanao Ateneos to meet and work on collaborative efforts.
